In 2006, Eksta Bostads AB completed 12 apartments in accordance with the passive house principle at Frillesås, Kungsbacka.

Every apartment is fitted with a heat recovery ventilation unit with an 85% recovery level, according to the manufacturer. The water-filled convector inside the unit is connected to the district heating system. For improved comfort, a water-filled underfloor heating loop has been fitted to the bathroom floor.

In a separate appliance building next to the three buildings, hot water and heating water is generated. Solar panels are fitted to the roof of the appliance house. The hot water requirement not covered by the solar heaters is met by district heating, generated by bio-fuel.
