The Västra Götaland Region is a politically- governed organisation, the primary task of which is responsibility for providing its 1.5 million inhabitants with good healthcare and medical care. The Region is also responsible for handling development issues with respect, for example, to the environment, culture and the business sector. The operation covers the whole region and has a staff of approximately 50,000.

To create a society with long-term sustainability and reduce carbon dioxide emissions from the heating of domestic properties, the market for passive houses and energy-efficient houses will have to increase significantly.
The aim of Passivhuscentrum is to be a driving force for sustainable construction, using passive house technology, from a regional, national and international perspective.
